1) Your wedding is an important event in your life. While most wedding photographers will provide you with their own checklist, each wedding is different containing special touches, people and moments you want to be sure are included. Discuss the details with your photographer and arrive at a list that is agreeable to both of you.
2) Before the Ceremony 
Photograph taken before the ceremony are important as they document the process, excitement and tender moments both the bride and groom have with their family and friends before tying the knot. Here are some ideas

  • Bride and bridesmaids getting dressed, getting their hair done and having makeup applied

  • Maid of honor helping put on veil or garter

  • Mother of the bride adjusting bride's veil

  • Mother or grandmother of the bride helping with jewelry

  • Bride pinning flowers on her mother and father

  • Close-up of dress and flowers

  • Bride and parents spending quiet last moments before the ceremony

  • Portrait shots of bride looking out window, in mirror, in garden

  • Bride and parents going to ceremony (getting into car, walking away)

  • Groom and groomsmen playing sports

  • Groom and groomsmen dressing

  • Best man helping groom tie his tie

  • Groom giving flowers to his mother, pinning boutonniere on his father

  • Groom and father spending time alone, maybe listening to his father's advice

  • Groom and mother alone

  • Parents escorting groom to ceremony

  • Add some flair to these photos, with other fun and posed shots:

  • Have the groom's parents drag him out the door

  • Show the groom and groomsmen killing time, maybe by playing cards or smoking cigars

  • Have the bridesmaids plan some surprises for the bride to ease the stress of the morning

  • Have a dance party in the dressing room

  • Provide champagne and have the women toasting the bride

  • The bride and groom can plan surprises that will show up later in the finished photographs.

3) During the Ceremony more ideas:

  • Depending upon the venue, additional photos can include the bride and groom exiting the building with guests throwing birdseed or confetti, getting into a car with the "Just Married" sign and a portrait of them in the car together.

  • Help the photographer by discussing these photos beforehand and alerting the wedding party and families about the timing. Letting them know in advance that they will be needed for photos immediately after the ceremony will allow the photographer to set up and pose the photos quickly letting everyone move on to the reception as soon as possible. 

5) Reception ideas and letting your photography know the time of events is very importatnt which could include but not limited to:

  • Table settings and centerpieces/decorations

  • Guest registry

  • Wedding cake

  • Bride and groom arriving at reception and greeting guests

  • Musicians

  • Dinner being served or buffet setup

  • Bride and groom kissing at head table

  • Bride and groom at each table with guests

  • Cutting of cake and bride and groom feeding each other

  • Toasts

  • Throwing bouquet

  • Groom removing garter and tossing it

  • Garter-bouquet dance

  • Couple / Table photos (try to capture photos of each guest)

  • Bride and groom leaving the reception

  • Providing the photographer with the seating arrangements can help him identify special tables and guests. Make sure to include on this list any special events that you may have planned during the reception as well as any interesting features you want to be sure are recorded.
